Excel & Elevate Program

The Excel & Elevate Program offers non-credit community classes designed for individuals of all ages and abilities who are eager to learn, grow, and thrive. Through engaging, hands-on experiences, participants build confidence, independence, social connections, and practical skills that support success in everyday life.

Classes are offered Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in an inclusive learning environment where participants learn alongside their peers while exploring a variety of educational and enrichment topics.

Excel & Elevate Classes

  • Astronomy

    Our Astronomy class introduces participants to the fascinating world of space science through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Students explore topics such as the solar system, planets, stars, galaxies, space exploration, astronauts, telescopes, and current discoveries in astronomy.

    Instruction is delivered through interactive lessons, multimedia presentations, group discussions, STEM-based activities, experiments, creative projects, and observational learning opportunities. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, investigate scientific concepts, and develop critical thinking skills while exploring the universe around them.

    The class promotes curiosity, problem-solving, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for science in an inclusive learning environment where individuals of all abilities can discover, explore, and learn together.

  • Computers

    Our Computers class provides participants with the opportunity to develop essential digital literacy and technology skills in a supportive, hands-on learning environment. Students learn how to use computers, navigate the internet safely, create documents and presentations, send emails, conduct online research, and utilize technology for communication, education, and everyday life.

    Instruction is delivered through guided lessons, interactive demonstrations, hands-on computer activities, project-based learning, and individualized support. Participants explore a variety of technology topics while building confidence, problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and digital independence.

    The class is designed for learners of all abilities and promotes practical technology skills that can be applied at home, in school, in the workplace, and throughout the community.

  • Science

    Our Science class encourages curiosity, discovery, and critical thinking through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Participants explore a wide range of scientific topics, including biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, environmental science, weather, animals, plants, and the natural world.

    Instruction is delivered through interactive lessons, experiments, demonstrations, STEM activities, observations, and group discussions that make scientific concepts both accessible and exciting. Students are encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, solve problems, and investigate how science impacts everyday life.

    Our Health class helps participants develop the knowledge and skills needed to make healthy choices and maintain overall well-being. Through engaging, interactive lessons, students explore topics such as nutrition, physical fitness, personal hygiene, mental health, stress management, self-care, healthy relationships, and safety awareness.

    Instruction is delivered through hands-on activities, group discussions, demonstrations, wellness projects, movement-based exercises, and real-world learning experiences. Participants learn practical strategies that promote healthy lifestyles, build confidence, and support independence in everyday life.

    Designed for individuals of all abilities, this class encourages lifelong healthy habits while fostering self-awareness, personal responsibility, and overall physical, emotional, and social well-being.

  • Community Connections

    Our Community Connections class introduces participants to the people, organizations, and systems that help communities thrive. Through interactive experiences, guest speakers, educational presentations, and community exploration, participants gain a deeper understanding of how local government, public services, businesses, and community organizations work together to serve the public.

    Participants have opportunities to meet and learn from local leaders, elected officials, first responders, public safety personnel, business owners, librarians, healthcare professionals, nonprofit organizations, and other community stakeholders. These experiences provide valuable insight into the roles and responsibilities of those who contribute to the safety, well-being, and success of the community.

    Instruction is provided through classroom learning, guest speakers, guided discussions, community-based educational visits, and hands-on experiences. Participants may tour local police departments, fire stations, emergency dispatch centers, town and county government offices, libraries, courts, and other public facilities. These experiences help individuals become familiar with community systems, understand how public services operate, and build positive relationships with the professionals who serve their communities.
